5 Steps for Hurricane Preparedness in the Construction Industry and Built Environment

Weather-Ready Nation 2018 National Hurricane Preparedness Week and WeatherBuild, Decision Support Solutions for the Construction Industry and Built Environment, provide five steps for delivering the actionable information, such as weather events, schedule impacts, safety risks, and probable outcomes, to project stakeholders across the construction industry and built environment:

  1. Emphasize the dangers of each hazard and threat, specific to each of your projects.
  2. Focus on important areas: communicating impacts, such as health, safety and environment.
  3. Use the National Hurricane Center — included with WeatherBuild severe weather reports.
  4. Only share reliable sources, such as WeatherBuild Decision Support Solutions.
  5. Highlight hazards that continue after storms pass each construction site or facility operations.
