“WeatherBuild’s hyper-local weather risk reports and real-time alerts give us actionable insights at the point of construction to optimize uptime of our operating personnel, and minimize downtime, during weather events such as wind events and lightning strikes.” — Turner Site Manager

Turner recognizes the importance of innovation and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, including around weather safety and weather risk management. The process of building a company and a workforce for the future requires tremendous adaptability and vision. A key element of Turner’s company vision is to develop and embrace emerging technologies and processes, such as WeatherBuild, weather-enabled decision support solutions, to protect profitability, manage risk, increase productivity and enhance safety. As part of Turner’s effort to achieve this vision, Turner fosters a culture where employees share ideas and engagement with one another to develop innovative ideas as well as evaluate and implement improvements at Turner.

Accordingly, weather is one of the top three reasons for missed milestones in the construction industry and built environment, with negative impacts costing billions of dollars to contractors, owners and operators each year in the US. Adverse weather causes schedule delays and cost overruns, decreases labor and equipment productivity, jeopardizes material performance and work results, endangers health, safety and the environment (HSE), and from time to time, leads to insurance claims and litigated disputes. At Turner, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is an integral part of risk management, including weather safety and weather risk management.
