FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 17, 2018

CAMBRIDGE, MA — WeatherBuild®Decision Support Solutions for the Construction Industry and Built Environment®, is proud to announce the release of a series of powerful enhancements and advanced features to its time handling. Adam Omansky, Founder of WeatherBuild highlights “Scheduled reports and real-time alerts, such as lightning strike alerts and all clear notifications, now include site-specific times by time zone code for Standard Time and for Daylight Saving Time (DST).”

Enhancements to WeatherBuild’s time processing are also on its data analytics platform — integrating hyper-local, raw weather data from a broad spectrum of sources, performing a series of site-specific simulations and analytics each day, identifying schedule activities, equipment operations and work results at risk of being impacted by numerous weather events, and automating delivery of site-specific (by lat, lon) reports and alerts.

Omansky continues “Time processing is critical when integrating raw data, performing simulations and analytics, and delivering reports and alerts. WeatherBuild ingests a high volume of sometimes messy data at a high velocity, in some cases data packages by the millisecond. As the raw weather data structures vary from structured to semi-structured to unstructured or messy, classifying the probability and intensity of events dynamically changing over time presents a series of complex challenges.”

As the current successor to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), UTC is the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks and time. However, UTC is not adjusted for Daylight Saving Time. Accordingly, WeatherBuild also includes site-specific adjustments for Standard Time and for Daylight Saving Time. The current version of UTC is defined by International Telecommunications Union Recommendation (ITU-R TF.460-6), Standard-frequency and time-signal emissions.
