Safeguard crews working at heights, hoisting and rigging operations, construction materials in staging

WeatherBuild®Decision Support Solutions for the Construction Industry and Built Environment®, is proud to announce integration with the new Davis Instruments sonic anemometer. Now via WeatherBuild, site stakeholders and construction managers can measure wind speed and wind direction, using ultra-sonic waves and electro-acoustic transducers — no moving parts means greater reliability on site. The new sonic anemometer can replace the mechanical anemometer for both the wireless and cabled Davis Vantage Pro2 weather stations.

  • Measure wind speed and wind direction
  • Send station reports and alerts to stakeholders and crews
  • Log ground truth over time for risk management
  • Broadcast actual outcomes in real-time for safety management
  • Solar-powered with battery backup
  • No moving parts means greater reliability on site
  • No regular maintenance required aside from surface cleaning
  • Replace old mechanical anemometers

Reports over time for contract and risk management, alerts in real-time for health, safety and environment management

Wind and wind gust events can endanger crews working at heights, jeopardize hoisting and rigging operations, and destabilize construction materials in staging, as three examples of risks to work crews, heavy equipment and building products. WeatherBuild sends both station reports and station alerts to project stakeholders and work crews. First, station reports log ground truth over time for contract and risk management; and second, station alerts broadcast actual outcomes in real-time above predefined thresholds for health, safety and environment (HSE) management.

Industry’s ability to mitigate hazards will be improved by embracing the latest technological innovations

Across the construction industry and for crane operations, the New York City Crane Technical Working Group recommends that the “…industry’s ability to mitigate hazards will be improved by embracing the latest technological innovations…” — WeatherBuild is a leader in technological innovations for weather decision support and weather risk management in construction, operations and maintenance (O&M). Further, the New York City Crane Technical Working Group advocates “pinpoint forecasting” as a critical planning tool, and not relying on free apps, generic services, and public sources such as National Weather Service forecasts only issued a regional level.
