Weather-related adjustments to construction equipment rental calculations
The EquipmentWatch Rental Rate Blue Book now incorporates new weather-related, regional cost adjustments to its construction equipment rental calculations. Accounting for weather data and analytics from across North America, the Rental Rate Blue Book addresses adverse weather and weather events such as precipitation and temperature, plus severe weather that impacts accessibility, terrain, and other construction site conditions.
Precipitation accelerates maintenance cycles and stresses equipment components
A major factor and complex variable in preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of heavy equipment, weather is mission-critical to cost adjustments across all regions of the United States, Canada, and worldwide. Rain, snow, sleet, ice, and mixed precipitation accelerate maintenance cycles and stress equipment components at a higher rate when compared to operations and maintenance (O&M) during mild months and in temperate climates.
Precipitation can mud out job sites — impact parts and cause breakdowns
Construction equipment, regardless of make, model, size, and year, is susceptible to contaminants. As one example with outdoor equipment exposed to the elements, weather events such as precipitation can mud out job sites, causing dirt and debris to impact parts and breakdown components. As another example, precipitation events can also cause metal on heavy equipment to rust and corrode over time, accelerating part replacement cycles.
