FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 19, 2019

CAMBRIDGE, MA — WeatherBuild®, Decision Support Solutions for the Construction Industry and Built Environment®, is proud to support American Wind Week 2019, the third annual celebration of American wind energy and the benefits it delivers to communities across the country. Add your name in support of wind energy and a clean energy future for the United States, and join the conversation on social media using #AmericanWindWeek and share why wind energy is important to you. American Wind Week highlights important facts about the wind industry throughout the week.

  • Wind powers opportunity in rural America. Wind pays over $1 billion in state and local taxes and landowner lease payments every year. That’s stable income that helps keep the farm in the family during tough times. It also leads to investments in schools, roads and emergency services.
  • Wind powers opportunity in our everyday lives. Many of the products we use every day are powered by wind. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee at Starbucks, picking up supplies at Home Depot or enjoying a cold Budweiser, there’s an increasingly likely chance that product or store is powered by wind.
  • Wind Powers opportunity for job creation. Over 114,000 Americans across all 50 states work in wind. And wind technician is the country’s 2nd fastest growing job.
  • Wind powers opportunity for America’s veterans. The men and women who serve our country find wind jobs at a rate of 67% higher than the average U.S. industry.
  • Wind powers opportunity for a clean future. Today, generating electricity with wind is the equivalent of taking 43 million cars off the road. It is one of the fastest, most cost-effective ways to reduce carbon emissions. And wind cuts air pollution that triggers asthma attacks and creates smog.
  • Wind powers opportunity offshore for a new American energy industry. Offshore wind resources will reliably deliver large amounts of clean energy to America’s biggest population centers, create tens of thousands of well-paying American jobs, revitalize ports and coastal infrastructure, and create a nearly $70 billion opportunity for U.S. supply chain businesses.
