Wet weather-protection plans: rainfall totals over time for each rain event and work shift
CAMBRIDGE, MA — WeatherBuild®, Decision Support Solutions for the Construction Industry and Built Environment®, is proud to announce the release of a series of best-in-class feature enhancements to its rain events — predictive analytics and site-specific insights for precipitation. Some of the many enhancements include rainfall totals over time for each rain event and work shift.
Unlike generic weather forecasts, consumer weather apps, and public weather services, WeatherBuild is built from the ground up for the construction industry and built environment. WeatherBuild’s rainfall totals account for numerous variables of precipitation including probability, intensity, and time ranges which can impact schedule activities, equipment operations, and work results.
For example, during construction activities and maintenance tasks, scheduling demands and resource constraints from time to time force contractors to pour concrete in the rain — as opposed to canceling and rescheduling placements during more favorable weather conditions. However, with proper wet-weather protection plans, stakeholders can manage the weather risks to cast-in-place concrete and other activities.
(For more information about concrete exposed to rain at various stages of placement, see the August 2019 article “Concrete Placements Exposed to Rain: Damage types, protection options, and repair methods” by Ronald L. Kozikowski, Scott M. Tarr, Kevin Rowswell, and Bruce A. Suprenant, in the American Concrete Institute Concrete International, Volume 41, Issue 8.)
Headquartered in Cambridge, MA between Harvard and MIT, WeatherBuild® offers a suite of decision support solutions that empower contractors, owners and operators to improve situational awareness and make better-informed decisions about weather events, schedule impacts, safety risks and probable outcomes.
