FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 20, 2020
CAMBRIDGE, MA — WeatherBuild®, Decision Support Solutions for the Construction Industry and Built Environment®, is proud to announce schedule integration with Touchplan (www.touchplan.io), “the only Lean way to implement the Last Planner® System.” Touchplan is ingrained in the construction industry as a division of MOCA Systems. MOCA Systems is a full service owner’s representative and software development firm for the design and construction industries.
Weather risk-adjusted planning — short-term production planning and weekly work planning
WeatherBuild’s integration with Touchplan enables weather risk probability for each activity, as a part of Lean construction processes and Last Planner Systems — weather risk-adjusted planning as a mission-critical element of short-term production planning and weekly work planning. Lean is the “means to save money through a reduction of waste and an increase of efficiency,” including both threats and opportunities associated with weather.
Produce predictable work flow and rapid learning in construction
Developed by Glenn Ballard and Greg Howell, the Last Planner® System (LPS) or Last Planner® is a short-term production planning system “designed to produce predictable work flow and rapid learning in programming, designing, commissioning, and construction.” Project stakeholders improve performance during construction and commissioning through increased schedule predictability by ensuring predictable workflows downstream.
Systematic method for eliminating waste within a production system
Unlike the critical path method (CPM), the Lean process moves backwards — beginning at the finish of the project and moving backwards toward the start of the project to plan out the work, identifying only the work required to meet milestones and not out of sequence. Accordingly, the Lean process is a systematic method for eliminating waste within a production system, such as idle time and work stoppages as a result of weather events.
Headquartered in Cambridge, MA between Harvard and MIT, WeatherBuild® offers a suite of decision support solutions that empower contractors, owners and operators to improve situational awareness and make better-informed decisions about weather events, schedule impacts, safety risks and probable outcomes.
