Weather maps complement daily reports with risk assessments
CAMBRIDGE, MA — WeatherBuild®, Decision Support Solutions for the Construction Industry and Built Environment®, is proud to announce the release of a series of major enhancements to its weather maps for contractors, owners and operators. Unlike generic services and consumer apps, WeatherBuild is purpose built from the ground up by experienced construction technologists specifically for the construction industry and built environment. WeatherBuild’s weather maps complement the daily reports with risk assessments of schedule activities, equipment operations, and work results.
Live lightning strikes to enhance the life safety of outdoor work crews
WeatherBuild’s weather maps feature live lightning strikes to enhance the life safety of outdoor work crews during construction, operations and maintenance. Contractors, owners and operators can visualize sites and facilities with custom advisory, watch, warning and all-clear ranges for lightning strikes. Further, WeatherBuild leverages a geographically distributed sensor network that detects total lightning, both in-cloud (IC) lightning and cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning — not otherwise available to the general public in generic services and consumer apps.
Precipitation, snowfall, and ice accumulation forecasts
Other new features in the WeatherBuild’s weather maps include layers such as: recent weather radar imagery; precipitation forecast; snowfall forecast; and ice accumulation forecast, as some of the many examples. Precipitation, snowfall, and ice accumulation forecasts feature visual displays of information in amount by time, accumulation by time, and cumulative total. WeatherBuild’s weather maps also feature wind speed forecasts and wind gust forecasts, to support short-term field executing planning of work at height, cranes and derricks, and materials handling.
