Look-ahead planning and Lean pull planning must account for weather events.
Weather-enabled decision support is critical to weather-sensitive schedule activities in look-ahead planning and Lean pull planning programs and processes. Also referred to as the make-ready plan (MRP), the look-ahead plan (LAP) breaks down each phase of the project or program schedule to a higher level of detail (LOD), from activities to tasks and steps. The Lean Construction Institute (LCI) (www.leanconstruction.org) defines lean pull planning as “working from a target completion date (milestone) backward, tasks are defined and sequenced to make completion releases work.” In pull planning, “…work tasks, information flow, and material deliveries are planned based on the request (or “pull”)of downstream customers…” and accordingly must account for weather events.
Headquartered in Cambridge, MA, WeatherBuild® offers a suite of decision support solutions that empower contractors, owners and operators to improve situational awareness and make better-informed decisions about weather events, schedule impacts and probable outcomes.
